Academics

Scholarship is one of Alpha Phi’s core values. We develop academic programming that supports our sisters to excel in and out of the classroom. We currently utilize Ivy circles, which are groups of sisters from different pledge classes and with varying academic and personal backgrounds, to discuss current events, exchange career advice and support one another. Our Sister of the Week tradition recognizes sisters for their academic, leadership, and career accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom during chapter every week. This semester, we will be implementing a virtual tutoring system for sisters to help one another succeed in their courses. We will also develop a stronger major-focused mentor/mentee program for the different schools on campus. We will be exploring innovative ways to support each other’s learning during the pandemic, which has caused the university to switch to hybrid and remote learning. At the heart of all these programs is Alpha Phi’s mission of empowering young women, and we believe that fostering confidence through scholarship is essential in helping our sisters navigate their careers and become leaders.

Love & Aoe,
Emma Baumann

Director of Academics

To join Greek Life on campus and our chapter specifically, a potential new member must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA. To remain in good standing, our sisters must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Should a sister need help with her academics, our Director of Academics works one-one-one with her to make and execute an academic plan to keep her on track. Through her work and the foundation set by our previous Directors of Academics, our sisters continue to exceed this benchmark and as a chapter we maintained at 3.498 GPA for the Spring 2016 semester, higher than the All-Student and All-Greek Average GPA.
